Reaching Contact Counselling
'Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending'
Marcus Aurelius
Hello and a very warm welcome. My name is Andrew. I am an integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I understand the prospect of therapy can leave people a little nervous, especially if it's your first time. Hopefully, my presence can help put you at ease; I am dedicated to care, compassion, and sensitivity.
I recognise that therapy requires a lot of trust, and I believe people need to feel safe before they can fully embrace openness. In my eyes, it is a trusting relationship that allows people to turn their personal experiences into shared ones, which is how a lot of growth and healing takes place. It is this connection that I have tried to capture with the name 'Reaching Contact'.
'Maybe'
Maybe you are searching.
Maybe something's going wrong or isn't working.
Maybe you are hurting.
Maybe you can sense something deep inside that's burning,
but no matter what you try and do it only seems to worsen.
Maybe you can't pause or rest.
Maybe you are short of breath.
Maybe you are trying to fight but life is taking all your strength.
Maybe there's an aching heart.
Maybe there's a vacant laugh.
Maybe you are breaking every time you try and face the past.
Maybe they departed.
Maybe you feel guarded.
Maybe there's so much to say you don't know what to start with.
Maybe you're unrecognised.
Maybe you're told 'never mind'.
Maybe you can feel the tension weighing on your neck and spine.
Maybe life's unbearable.
Maybe it's unfair and cruel.
Maybe you are feeling as if no one really cares at all.
Maybe you would like some peace.
Maybe it is time to speak.
Maybe you can share the load, it's welcome if you'd like to Reach.

F.A.Q's
How much does therapy cost?
My fees start at £70 per 50 minute session. I also keep a few concessionary openings. Please ask about this.

Where do sessions take place?

I am currently offering in-person sessions on Tuesday and Friday. I also run an online service via Zoom on Wednesday and Thursday. Please contact me regarding availibility.

The address for in-person meetings on Tuesday is: 31 Theobalds Road, Holborn, London, WC1X 8SP.

The building is located a short walk from Holborn tube station, and is also on the 19, 38, 55, 98, and 243 bus routes.

The address for Friday meetings is: 152 Camden High Street, London, NW1 0NE.

These premises are located very close Camden Town tube station, and a short walk from Camden Road overground. Mornington Crescent tube station is also relatively close by.

Additionally, the following bus routes all frequent the area - 24, 27, 29, 31, 88, 134, 168, 214, 253, and 274.
Unfortunately, neither building has wheelchair access. There are also a few sets of stairs to climb, which may be challenging for some people.

How often will we meet?
Sessions are held once a week on an agreed day and time.

Do you have to commit straight away?

I like to hold an introductory session where you can tell me a little bit about yourself and let me know what you are seeking from counselling. I believe it is important to find a therapist who is a 'good fit' for you, so take your time to meet as many as you need to. You are welcome to book more sessions with me whenever you like.

How many sessions will you need?

I offer both time-limited and open-ended therapy, and if you decide that you would like to continue after our initial consultation, I propose with starting with six sessions to help you get a feel for the counselling process. From here, we can review how we have found our time together, and discuss how you would like to proceed.

How do you know therapy is 'right' for you?

This is something you cannot really find out until you give it a go. Feeling unsure about therapy is quite common. I will always take the time to check in with how you are finding the counselling process as we progress.

Who do I work with?
I work with adults on a one-to-one basis.

How private is therapy?

All sessions and correspondence are treated with strict confidentiality. The privacy of those I work with is of the upmost importance to me.

What are my qualifications?
I have a diploma in integrative counselling, awarded by the Minster Centre. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their ethical code.
